Renault Duster Hybrid Sold Out for 2026 Before Price Announcement
Renault Duster hybrid sold out for 2026 before price reveal as demand surges; CNG version may launch if buyers demand.
French carmaker Renault has received a massive response for the newly launched Renault Duster in India. Even before announcing the official price for the hybrid variant, the company has already closed order books for the Duster hybrid for the year 2026.
The new Duster was launched in India with prices ranging between ₹10.49 lakh and ₹18.49 lakh (ex-showroom), but these prices currently apply only to the turbo-petrol variants. The hybrid version is expected to arrive closer to the Diwali festive season.
Hybrid Variant Receives Huge Demand
Renault revealed that the hybrid powertrain has attracted extremely strong interest from buyers. According to company officials, the demand exceeded the production capacity planned for the first year.
Because of this overwhelming response, all hybrid units allocated for 2026 production have already been booked.
Order Books Temporarily Closed
Since the hybrid version has already sold out for the year, Renault has temporarily closed its order books. The company plans to reopen bookings closer to the official launch during the festive season.
Customers who missed the early bookings may need to wait until additional production capacity is added.
Nearly 40 Percent Urban Buyers Choose Hybrid
The demand for the hybrid version has been especially strong in metropolitan cities. Renault says that about 39 percent of pre-bookings from urban markets have been for the hybrid powertrain.
This shows growing interest in fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles among city buyers.

Production Capacity Being Increased
Renault is now working on expanding production capacity to meet the high demand. The company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai is expected to play a key role in ramping up production.
Officials say they are evaluating ways to increase manufacturing output to reduce waiting periods.
Pre-Bookings Open Since January
Renault started accepting bookings for the new Duster on January 26, when the SUV was officially unveiled in India.
Since then, bookings have steadily increased, especially for the upcoming hybrid variant.
CNG Version Still Under Consideration
While the hybrid model has already generated strong demand, Renault has not completely ruled out introducing a CNG variant in the future.
However, the company says the decision will depend entirely on customer demand.
Brand Image a Key Factor
Renault officials explained that CNG technology does not always align with the sporty image of the Duster.
According to company executives, the brand wants to ensure that any alternative fuel option does not dilute the SUV’s performance-oriented identity.
Turbo CNG Could Be Possible
Interestingly, Renault hinted that if a CNG variant is introduced, it may not necessarily use a naturally aspirated engine.
Officials suggested that a turbocharged CNG setup could be possible, although no final product plans have been confirmed.
CNG Popularity Growing in India
The Indian automotive market has seen a steady rise in demand for CNG-powered vehicles due to lower running costs.
However, the midsize SUV segment currently has very limited CNG options, which is why Renault is carefully studying the market before making a decision.
Strong Start for the New Duster
The early success of the Duster hybrid indicates strong customer interest in electrified powertrains within the SUV segment.
If demand continues at the current pace, the new Duster could become one of Renault’s most successful launches in India in recent years.
