Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, a five-time Member of Parliament and two-time MLA from Delhi, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the age of 94. Known for his simplicity, discipline, and lifelong dedication to public service, Malhotra was one of the tallest leaders of the Jana Sangh and later the BJP.

BJP Confirms the News

The Delhi BJP officially confirmed the veteran leader’s passing. “With deep sorrow, we inform you that senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and the first president of Delhi BJP, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, passed away this morning,” Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said in a statement.

Hospitalised at AIIMS

According to party officials, Malhotra had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi, for the last few days. Despite efforts by doctors, his health deteriorated, and he breathed his last on Tuesday morning.

Malhotra’s passing came just a day after Delhi BJP celebrated the inauguration of its permanent office at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg by Prime Minister Modi. Party workers noted the coincidence, saying it felt as though the veteran had lived to witness the party’s milestone.

Final Journey Details

The BJP announced that Malhotra’s mortal remains would be brought to his official residence at 21 Gurdwara Rakabganj Road on Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. to allow supporters, colleagues, and citizens to pay their last respects.
