Candidates applying for DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ positions in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC and Ministry of Culture must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 examination can also apply, but they must have obtained the required qualification by October 7, 2026.

The prescribed age limit for SSC CHSL 2026 is 18 to 27 years as on August 1, 2026.

SSC CHSL 2026 Application Correction Window

The Commission will allow candidates to submit corrections twice. The correction charge will be ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second correction, irrespective of the candidate's gender or category.
SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted through Tier-I and Tier-II Computer-Based Examinations.
Candidates will then have to appear for the applicable Skill Test or Typing Test. For LDC/JSA candidates, a Typing Test is applicable, while DEO candidates have to undergo the prescribed Skill Test.
SSC has also introduced sectional timing in the Tier-I examination. The paper contains four sections:
- English Language
- General Intelligence
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General Awareness
Each section has 25 questions carrying 50 marks, making the Tier-I examination a 200-mark paper with 100 questions. The standard duration is 60 minutes, with a sectional timer. There is also a 0.50-mark negative marking for every incorrect answer.
Tier-II includes Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge and the applicable Skill/Typing Test.
How to Apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026
Candidates can apply online through the official SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.
Those who have not created a One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website will first need to complete the OTR process. SSC has clarified that OTR created on the old SSC website will not work on the new website.
After completing OTR, candidates can proceed with the CHSL application.
While filling out the form, candidates should carefully enter their personal details, educational information, category and examination centre preferences. SSC has advised applicants not to wait until the final day because heavy website traffic could cause problems while submitting the application.
