Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Launched in India with Android 16, Bigger Screens, and Smarter Features
Samsung launches Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 with Android 16, bigger displays, slimmer design, and powerful AI features.
Samsung has officially launched its highly anticipated foldable smartphones — the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 — in India at its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year. The 2025 lineup introduces key design changes, new hardware, and marks a world-first by launching both devices with Android 16 out of the box, alongside Samsung's latest One UI 8 interface. Samsung also revealed a third foldable, the Galaxy Flip 7 FE, which aims to bring foldables to a more budget-friendly segment. While hands-on access to the FE was limited, its design appears similar to last year’s Flip 6.
A Slimmer, Lighter, and More Powerful Galaxy Z Fold 7
If you’ve used the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the new Fold 7 feels like a solid step forward. It’s the slimmest and lightest in the series, measuring just 8.9mm thick and weighing 215g — lighter than both the Fold 6 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The cover display has been increased to 6.5 inches with a 21:9 aspect ratio, protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, offering a pixel density of 422 PPI and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The main display is now an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen, 11% larger than before, with 2600 nits peak brightness, 368 PPI, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The new Armor FlexHinge is stronger and slimmer, built with a multi-rail structure and Armor Aluminium, improving durability by 10%.
Powering the Fold 7 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the most powerful chip in the Android space, along with Samsung’s Galaxy AI features. Storage options include 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB.
The camera setup gets a major upgrade with a 200MP primary sensor, accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP telephoto camera. The battery remains at 4400mAh, with 25W wired charging capable of reaching 50% in 30 minutes. It also holds an IP48 water resistance rating. Color options include Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and an exclusive Mint color on Samsung.com.
Galaxy Z Flip 7: Bigger Cover Screen, Smarter Experience
The Flip 7 finally addresses a key user request — a bigger cover screen. The new 4.1-inch AMOLED outer display is the largest ever on a Flip model, with 2600 nits brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. With Gemini AI support, it now enables users to reply to messages, view directions, control music, and more — all from the cover screen.
The main display has also grown to 6.9 inches, with 1080x2520 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Flip 7 is thinner at 13.7mm, and powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 processor, unlike the Fold 7 which runs on Snapdragon. Storage options include 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB.
While the camera hardware remains similar to the Flip 6 — a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide — real-world performance will be tested in future reviews. It comes with a 4300mAh battery, up slightly from last year’s 4000mAh, and retains the 25W charging speed.
Both devices run on Android 16 with One UI 8, offering smarter features, better customization, and enhanced AI integration.
Final Thoughts
Samsung’s 2025 foldables bring meaningful upgrades in all the right areas — slimmer designs, brighter and bigger screens, more powerful processors, and smarter software. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 caters to productivity-focused users who need a premium foldable experience, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 finally becomes more practical for everyday tasks with a usable cover screen.
For anyone considering a foldable phone, this is Samsung’s most refined lineup yet. Whether you're looking to multitask on a tablet-sized screen or flip open a stylish and compact phone, the new foldables are built to impress.
