Monalisa Bhosle, who became widely known after appearing at the Maha Kumbh Mela, has spoken publicly about her recent marriage to actor Farman Khan. The couple tied the knot in Kerala and have now addressed the controversy that followed their interfaith wedding.

Speaking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Monalisa clarified that the decision to marry Farman Khan was entirely her own. She rejected allegations of “love jihad” and confirmed that neither she nor her husband had converted their religion.

Monalisa Says Marriage Was Her Personal Choice

During the interaction with reporters, Monalisa Bhosle said that the decision to marry Farman Khan was taken voluntarily and without any pressure.

According to her, she insisted on the marriage even though Khan was initially hesitant. She explained that the relationship developed naturally and that the final decision was hers.

Family Initially Opposed the Marriage

Monalisa revealed that her family had originally wanted her to marry within the extended family. Her parents reportedly preferred that she marry her aunt’s son.

However, she said she was not comfortable with that proposal and eventually chose to marry Farman Khan instead.

Father Attended Kerala Trip but Skipped Ceremony

The actress shared that her father travelled with her to Kerala but did not attend the wedding ceremony itself. She said he was upset about the decision but hoped he would eventually accept the marriage.

Monalisa expressed confidence that the family situation would improve over time.

Couple Rejects ‘Love Jihad’ Allegations

Farman Khan also addressed the allegations circulating in some media reports suggesting that the marriage involved religious conversion.

He firmly denied the claims and clarified that neither of them had changed their religion.

Both Partners Keeping Their Faith

According to Farman Khan, Monalisa continues to follow Hinduism while he remains Muslim. He said their relationship is based on mutual respect for each other’s beliefs.

The actor emphasised that love does not require religious conversion and that both partners respect each other’s traditions.

Wedding Performed According to Hindu Rituals

The couple revealed that the wedding ceremony was conducted according to Hindu traditions at a temple. Farman said he agreed to the arrangement because Monalisa wished for the ceremony to be performed that way.

He said the decision reflected their shared belief in respecting different cultures and customs.

Claims About Bride Being Underage Denied

Some reports had also claimed that Monalisa was underage at the time of marriage. Farman Khan rejected these claims and presented official documents to prove her age.

According to him, documents such as her Aadhaar card and birth certificate confirm that she is legally an adult.

Marriage Registered Through Kerala Government System

The couple said their marriage was officially registered through the Kerala government’s K-SMART digital registration system.

They explained that the registration process took about an hour and was completed without any complications.

The couple also received certificates from the local temple and the Poovar panchayat.

Relationship Began During Film Project

Monalisa and Farman first met about six months ago during the muhurat ceremony of a Malayalam film titled Nagamma.

The film is directed by P. Binu Varghese. Farman plays the lead antagonist in the movie while Monalisa was cast as the heroine.

Their friendship during the project gradually developed into a relationship.

Couple Appreciates Support in Kerala

After the wedding, the couple expressed gratitude for the support they received from people in Kerala. They said the welcoming response from locals made them feel comfortable.

Farman even suggested that they might consider settling in Kerala if Monalisa feels happy living there.

Political Leaders Attend the Wedding

Several public figures reportedly attended the ceremony and extended their wishes to the newly married couple. Among them were Kerala General Education Minister V. Sivankutty and CPI(M) leader M.V. Govindan.

Their presence added a political dimension to an event that had already generated significant public discussion.
