Har Ghar Tiranga 2025: Independence Day Celebrations Begin in Kodagu

In the run-up to India’s 78th Independence Day, the Kodagu district administration in Karnataka has launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The three-day event, from August 13 to 15, aims to instill patriotism and encourage citizens to display the national flag at their homes. Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja inaugurated the campaign at his office in Madikeri, announcing a series of activities planned at district, taluk, and gram panchayat levels.

1. Campaign Marks 78th Year of Independence

This year’s Independence Day celebrations carry special significance as India marks its 78th year of freedom. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is designed to engage citizens of all ages and backgrounds in patriotic activities.

2. Multiple Departments Join Hands

The campaign is a joint effort of several departments including Revenue, Panchayat Raj, School Education and Literacy, Pre-University Education, Social Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, Urban Development, Municipal Administration, and Kannada and Culture. This inter-departmental collaboration is aimed at ensuring participation across the district.

3. Events Across All Levels

Deputy Commissioner Raja announced that the campaign will be implemented at district, taluk, and gram panchayat levels. This wide coverage is meant to reach every household, from urban centers to remote villages.

4. Public Appeal to Participate

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Raja urged every citizen to participate in the initiative. He also encouraged participants to upload their selfies with the national flag on the official portal — hargartiranga.com — as a mark of their contribution.

5. Involvement of Educational Institutions

Schools, colleges, and hostels will host a variety of events, from flag hoisting to cultural programmes. Competitions on themes of patriotism are expected to engage students and spread awareness about the importance of the national flag.

6. Local Bodies to Host Activities

Municipalities, town panchayats, and city councils will organise special events for the public. These will include cultural shows, patriotic song performances, and awareness drives on the history and significance of Independence Day.

7. Additional Programmes Already Underway

Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya noted that a series of activities have already taken place in schools, colleges, and historical sites across Kodagu. These pre-launch programmes have helped generate excitement for the main three-day event.

8. Gram Panchayats and Hostels Included

Social Welfare Department Deputy Director and Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Shekhar confirmed that arrangements have been made for gram panchayats and hostels to take part in the campaign. This ensures inclusion of rural communities and students staying away from home.

9. Government Guidelines Being Followed

The campaign is being organised in line with government directives issued for Independence Day celebrations. Officials emphasised that the guidelines are aimed at making the event both meaningful and widely participatory.

10. A Festival of Patriotism

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is not just about displaying the national flag — it is about celebrating the spirit of unity and belonging. By bringing together citizens, government bodies, and educational institutions, Kodagu aims to turn this Independence Day into a true festival of patriotism.

Final Word

With a wide network of events, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Kodagu is set to bring the tricolour to every home, street, and institution. As the district gears up for three days of celebration, the initiative promises to strengthen the emotional bond between citizens and the nation.
