Chandigarh: After nearly two weeks of dry conditions following the monsoon’s withdrawal, the Tricity is gearing up for a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall early next week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a special bulletin, warning of rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and even hailstorm activity between October 5 and 7.
Fresh Western Disturbance Approaching
According to the IMD, a new western disturbance will become active over northwest India starting October 4. Its impact is expected to be felt across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, bringing a sharp rise in rainfall activity.
Peak Impact on October 6
The IMD has highlighted October 6 (Monday) as the day of maximum impact. On this day, Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula are forecast to see widespread heavy showers, accompanied by winds up to 50 kmph and chances of hailstorms. Rainfall will likely continue into October 7 before conditions begin to ease.
