Haiwaan Release Date 2026: Akshay Kumar-Saif Ali Khan Film Gets U/A 16+ Certificate, Check Runtime and Cast

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan's much-awaited thriller Haiwaan is now just days away from its theatrical release. The Priyadarshan-directed film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026, and has now cleared the censor certification process.

The film has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its release. The certification comes with the movie preparing for its worldwide theatrical debut this week.

The latest certification details have also revealed that Haiwaan has a runtime of approximately 2 hours, 44 minutes and 7 seconds.

Haiwaan Release Date

Haiwaan will release in theatres on September 11, 2026.

The film is directed by Priyadarshan, who is returning to the thriller genre after several comedy-driven projects. The movie also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, who last appeared together on screen many years ago.

The release is expected to attract attention because of the combination of two major Bollywood stars and Priyadarshan's return to a serious thriller.

Haiwaan Gets U/A 16+ Certificate

The CBFC has cleared Haiwaan with a U/A 16+ certification.

The certification indicates that the film has been cleared for theatrical exhibition with parental guidance for viewers below the specified age.

The certification is an important pre-release update because the film is being positioned as an intense action-crime thriller rather than a conventional comedy.

Haiwaan Runtime

According to the latest certification information, Haiwaan has a runtime of 2 hours 44 minutes and 7 seconds.

That makes the movie a fairly long theatrical watch, giving Priyadarshan considerable room to develop its suspense-driven storyline.

Haiwaan Story

The film revolves around a blind martial artist who becomes responsible for protecting a young girl from a dangerous psychopath killer.

This unusual setup puts Saif Ali Khan's character at the centre of the film's emotional and action elements, while Akshay Kumar plays the antagonist.

The film is reportedly inspired by the Malayalam film Oppam, although Haiwaan is being presented for Hindi audiences with its own treatment.

Haiwaan Cast

The movie stars:

• Akshay Kumar
• Saif Ali Khan
• Mohanlal
• Shriya Pilgaonkar
• Saiyami Kher
• Boman Irani
• Sharib Hashmi
• Rajpal Yadav
• Asrani

Akshay Kumar plays the antagonist, while Saif Ali Khan takes on the role of the visually impaired martial artist.

The film also carries additional interest because one of veteran actor Asrani's final screen appearances is being highlighted as part of the promotional campaign.

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Reunite

One of the biggest attractions of Haiwaan is the return of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together.

The two actors previously worked together in films including Main Khiladi Tu Anari, making their new collaboration particularly interesting for audiences who remember their earlier pairing.

This time, however, the dynamic is completely different, with Akshay playing a ruthless antagonist and Saif taking on a physically demanding role.

Priyadarshan's New Direction

Haiwaan is also significant for Priyadarshan.

Known for Hindi comedies such as Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Garam Masala, the filmmaker is now moving deeper into the thriller and action space.

Priyadarshan has described Haiwaan as the beginning of a new chapter for him, particularly after his long association with comedy.

Haiwaan Release: Why It Could Attract Audiences

The film has several factors working in its favour: a major star reunion, Priyadarshan's direction, an unusual protagonist, an intense antagonist and a release date during a busy theatrical period.

The movie is also arriving with a clear genre identity. Rather than selling itself primarily as a comedy or family entertainer, Haiwaan is being promoted as a suspenseful action-crime drama.

Final Thoughts

Haiwaan releases in cinemas on September 11, 2026, and the film has now crossed an important pre-release milestone with its U/A 16+ certification.

With a runtime of around 2 hours 44 minutes, Akshay Kumar as the antagonist, Saif Ali Khan as a blind martial artist and Priyadarshan directing, the movie is shaping up as one of the major Bollywood releases to watch this week.

The next major search trend will likely shift toward Haiwaan advance booking, first-day box office collection and movie review once the film reaches theatres.
